WEEKLY NEWSLETTER NOW AVAILABLE VIA E-MAIL !! "Perhaps you noticed we started a weekly column for the Sons of The American Legion (SAL), Detachment of Maine in last week’s newsletter (SMILE). Detachment Commander Don Allisot will be providing information each week for all SAL members and legionnaires who are interested. I would encourage each legionnaire receiving this publication to make it known to SAL members that we are now including the SAL information in the SMILE and it is available to them on the Internet. All anyone has to do is forward their name and e-mail address to this office (legionme@me.acadia.net) and we will gladly include them in our distribution each week through the Internet. We are unable to make this offer through the postal service, as it is cost-prohibitive, but can add anyone to our list for distribution via e-mail. This includes legionnaires as well. Our SAL organization, a program of The American Legion, provides exceptional support for Legion groups at the post and Department level that is invaluable. Ask any post that has an active SAL squadron and they will tell you their post would not be as good as it is without them. As an example of the kind of support we get from them at the Department level, the SAL Detachment of Maine donated $2,000 to support our Maine Blind Camp program as our Legion program fell short of its goal. The SAL is one of the best programs The American Legion has. If your post does not have a squadron, please contact Don for information and assistance to establish one." The above column was taken from the Department Weekly Newsletter (SMILE). Send your e-mail address to the Department or read the weekly columns here. Just click on the link below. Columns are provided in both MS Word and PDF Formats. Webmaster.
